Box Breathing - Count of 5

The technique is also known as “resetting your breath” or four-square breathing. 

Box breathing is highly effective to reduce stress and get the body out of fight or flight mode.  It is great for re-centering, improving focus and concentration as well as calming down the nervous system.  

How to:

 

  1. Close your eyes. Breathe in through your nose all the way into your belly while counting to five slowly.
  2. Hold your breath inside while counting slowly to five 
  3. Begin to slowly exhale for 5 seconds.
  4. And then hold your breath for 5 seconds.
  5. Repeat
