There’s More to Healing Than Just Talking
Hello Beautiful Family:
For years, I went to talk therapy. It helped me understand so much about myself—why I reacted the way I did, what triggered me, and even where those feelings came from. But here’s the thing: even with all that awareness, when I got triggered, it was like this other version of me took over.
I remember a specific moment with my daughter when she was disrespectful. She was being her normal, sometimes-sassy self, but I got so upset and reacted in a way I instantly regretted. Ten minutes later, I felt terrible, apologizing and wondering why I couldn’t stop myself in the moment. It was frustrating because I knew better, but it didn’t change anything.
That’s when I started exploring somatic practices—things like dynamic activating breathwork and meditation. And let me tell you, everything shifted. Instead of forcing myself to act differently, I naturally was different. I wasn’t just aware of my triggers; I had space between the thought and the reaction. My energy felt lighter, clearer.
Here’s what I’ve learned: talk therapy is great, but it’s not the whole picture.
What Talk Therapy Does Well
Talk therapy is an incredible tool for self-awareness. It helps you:
- Understand your emotions and why you feel or act a certain way.
- Identify patterns and beliefs that might be holding you back.
- Process trauma by talking through it in a safe space.
- Learn communication skills and ways to express yourself better.
But here’s the catch—it’s all about your mind. And a lot of the things that drive us—our reactions, our triggers, our old wounds—live in the body and subconscious mind.
How Somatic Coaching Is Different
Somatic Integrative Coaching picks up where talk therapy leaves off. Instead of just talking about what’s going on, we focus on:
- Tuning into your body. Emotions show up in the body—like tension, tightness, or heaviness. When you learn to recognize and shift those sensations, you can create real change.
- Accessing the subconscious mind. Breathwork and meditation help you get to the root of patterns you might not even realize you have. Sometimes you have to slow down your mind to the vibration of the body to access your subconcious mind.
- Moving stuck energy. Dynamic activating breathwork moves and releases energy and stress that your body has been holding onto.
- Creating transformation from the inside out. You don’t have to “try” to be different—you naturally show up as the person you want to be.
- Building resilience. You’ll learn how to sit with tough emotions without feeling like they’ll overwhelm you.

Talk therapy is great for understanding yourself. But if you want to feel more calm, clear, and in control—especially in those heated moments—somatic coaching offers a different kind of support. It works with your body and mind to create the change you’ve been looking for.
