Ditch "Not Good Enough" and Define YOUR "Enough"

Let me guess — you’ve had those “not good enough” thoughts too. The ones that make your gut sink?
The ones that creep in during the middle of the night… or while you’re scrolling social media?
Those persistent voices whispering things like:
- “I’m not pretty enough.”
- “I’m not skinny enough.”
- “I’m not rich enough.”
- “I’m not successful enough.”

If you’re nodding along, you’re in the right place. Let’s talk about how to quiet those thoughts and define YOUR enough.

It’s a Universal Struggle

First, I want you to know: you are not alone.
Feeling “not enough” is a nearly universal human experience.

As a holistic life coach who’s worked with hundreds of incredible people, I see this pattern over and over again. I sit across from brilliant, compassionate, capable clients and marvel at their gifts… while they focus only on their shortcomings.

I understand this journey very well.
For me, my “not enough” story was all about financial security.
No matter how much I saved, it never felt like enough. My home never seemed quite big enough. The voice in my head constantly compared my financial situation to others and always found it NOT TO BE ENOUGH.

But through out the years and my healing work, I discovered something I had forgotten:
I consistently chose meaningful connection over material excess.
Inner peace over constant striving.
Authentic joy over the endless pursuit of more.

And aligning with my true values? That turned out to be the real wealth I had been seeking all along.

I just had to organize those thoughts in my mind so that when the old voices popped up, I could meet them from a place of acceptance.

Finding “Enoughness” Through Surrender

Recently, during one of my meditations, something shifted.
I completely surrendered — let go of my ego and my need for control — and felt this deep sense of knowing that everything was going to be okay.

I had such profound gratitude for my simple, little life.
And this sense wasn’t forced; it was something I felt deeply, in every bone of my body.

I experienced:
-Total acceptance of myself
-Profound gratitude for my life
-A knowing that I am — and always have had and been — enough

The truth, for me is…
If I can live authentically while supporting myself doing meaningful work…
If I have enough food, a roof over my head, a healthy body and mind, and love in my life…
I already have everything that matters.

Breaking Free From “Not Enough” Patterns

My coaching clients’ stories — and my own experiences — have made me examine all the “not enough” narratives I’d been carrying.

And I had to ask myself:
- Are these thoughts truly mine?
- Where did they originate?
- Did I adopt them from my parents, social media, or society?
- Are they running on autopilot?
-Are they based on my values… or someone else’s?

Now I’m inviting you to explore these same questions.
Because awareness is always the first step toward meaningful change.
As a somatic and NLP coach, I’ve witnessed how identifying your thoughts, values, and patterns creates the space for profound clarity and change.

Challenge Your Financial “Not Enough” Story

If you struggle with financial feelings of inadequacy, try asking yourself:
-What specific number would feel like enough — and why that amount?
-What would you sacrifice in the pursuit of that financial goal?
-Whose definition of success are you measuring yourself against?

Challenge Your Body “Not Enough” Narrative

When those body-critical thoughts arise, try exploring:
-What would being “skinny enough” actually give me? Health… or approval?
-Is the cost of achieving that ideal worth what I’d have to sacrifice?
-Am I trading joy, connection, or nourishment for a number on a scale?

I was watching the Oscars recently and couldn’t help but notice how thin many of the older women were — women around my age. I found myself wondering, What do they eat? Are they nourishing themselves properly?

Because for me to be that skinny, I’d have to deny myself nourishment.
And honestly? It's not worth it to me.
My health is too precious for that trade-off.

Remember: You get to define your own standards of beauty and worth.

Reclaiming Your Authentic Values

Most of us are carrying childhood imprints, old beliefs, and society’s standards that don’t actually belong to us.

It’s no wonder we feel disconnected from our bodies…
Stuck in survival mode…
Unable to speak up for ourselves in relationships.
We’ve been living by rules that were never ours to begin with.

It’s time to stand tall and ask yourself:
-What does my personal version of “enough” look and feel like in each area of my life?
-Where did my “not good enough” standards originate?
-Were they inherited from someone else?
-What standards feel right for me at this point in my life?

As a holistic trauma recovery coach, I love seeing  people break free from limiting beliefs and reconnect with their authentic selves.

And from experience, I can tell you this:
…The moment you reclaim your own standards and values, life gets lighter.

…You stop merely surviving and start thriving.

…Decision-making becomes clearer.

…Relationships deepen.

…Joy returns — naturally.

When you define your own enough, everything shifts.
